 Serial novels tend to run on and on. The pacing and expectations are different. The expected reading pace is one to three chapters a week. This is especially relevant if you're expected to read just about any of the works of Charles Dickens, which were published weekly and needed to fill a word quota. I've actually given up going past book 2 of the series because I can't stand the idea of the story not getting finished and being completely unsatisfied with Game of Thrones again.

 Is this dinner with your girlfriend something a third person could join? I'm happy to linger in the shadows with my plate of ham and not say anything if that would make it less awkward. It's always awesome to hear communities coming together. How are y'all funding stuff like fuel and other supplies? I assume your volunteers came with their own saws and heavy equipment, but it costs $$ to operate them even if people are volunteering their time and sweat. Any chance the local gov will reimburse you for fuel and supplies, or y'all passing the hat around the town? The reality is a lot of these businesses and people are eating the costs because to them, protecting one another is worth it.
