  I’ve been going to hocking hills every year for 10 years, there always has been bane carving but it’s getting worse. Along with that, the amount of trash left behind is also growing. Hocking hills is always my favorite part of the year, walking all the trails, seeing all the beautiful nature. Now when I go, I see “chad+karen 4evr” carves into the walls and a McDonald’s cup or coke can leave behind, cigarettes throughout the trails. Although I’ve never seen anyone actually do anything, it still makes me frustrated to see people treat this place like it’s nothing.   They could talk about how that rock could one day be carved into fantastic shapes by the wind and rain and snow, or how that waterfall will gouge out that little pool into a bigger body of water, or how a landslide could one day cover it all up and reshape the hills.  I hope they didn’t get hurt.   Does a grown-ass man really need to write "Dave was ere, 2k20" like for real, what's the point? If I was a parent and saw my kids doing it is just tell them not to but I could understand why a kid would think it's cool, but a 40yo doing it is just a bit sad.   Why tf do you need to do that?..aren’t photos enough?. It’s important that we experience and remember stuff like the taste of food we ate and the warm hugs when we go on vacation.   Basically, DONT FUCK UP NATURE. Enjoy it and minimize your impact in totality. Pack in pack out.   I went to one and a ranger told us about a guy who put first and last name and the date he was there. They were able to trace that back thru credit card purchases he made in the gift shop that day. I think it's maybe even with prison time now the new policy about defacing government monuments and statues are in place.  Hocking Hills is a great place and so is ash cave.   I live near ash caves and its pretty annoying when I see people doing this yea I understand its a big rock but this has been hearing for thousands of year and it's pretty disrespectful when people do this and its also a rule in the state park not to do this and  the rock is gonna be there for thousands more years and their names and graffiti just make it extremely ugly I  am pretty sure that every state and national park I went too the tour guides, and signs posted, inform you that is a felony.   Okay, I’ll admit I carved my name in a couple trees when I went camping. As a kid.   I've never understood why people feel the need to carve their names into rocks and trees. how egotistical do you need to be to think anyone but you cares that you've been to a specific rocked  where he's basing leave no trace on, but it means to leave no (or at least as little as you can) environmental footprint when outdoors.
