 It’s a weird thing bc a lot of the original idea of drag was playing on gender by shaping a male body into the culturally idealized version of a woman, so playing into those stereotypes is part of what made it subversive. But now I’m not really sure it’s effective in the same way, and as our understanding of gender identity has evolved as well as the language around it, I do get uncomfortable with phrases like “biological woman” being used as a compliment towards cis male drag queens.

 Is this dinner with your girlfriend something a third person could join? I'm happy to linger in the shadows with my plate of ham and not say anything if that would make it less awkward. It's always awesome to hear communities coming together. How are y'all funding stuff like fuel and other supplies? I assume your volunteers came with their own saws and heavy equipment, but it costs $$ to operate them even if people are volunteering their time and sweat. Any chance the local gov will reimburse you for fuel and supplies, or y'all passing the hat around the town? The reality is a lot of these businesses and people are eating the costs because to them, protecting one another is worth it.   Even if it did disappear in 40 years, if every person did this who walked through, the park would be nothing BUT people's carvings.
